Subscriptions are counted. Which campaign brought them is not.

The board report counts signups. Renewals come from the learners who finish.

Sample data: a fictional online coding school, Jul 1 to Sep 30.

  1. 19,480signups this quarter
  2. 15.5%of them finished a course
  3. 41.2%of finishers subscribed, against 10.7% of all signups

Kissmetrics puts the campaign, every lesson and the subscription on the same learner.

Four questions every EdTech team asks, with a report for each.

Made for the marketers and growth leads who decide where the budget goes. Open the report, read the answer, and ask a follow-up in plain English.

Where do learners drop out before they subscribe?

In the middle of the first course, not at the paywall.

Overall

Fix the middle of the course. Ask at the finish line.

Your course design

In this example, 9,850 learners completed a lesson and never finished a course. Put the work into the middle of the first course, where they stop.

Funnels, free

Your subscription prompt

In this example, 41.2% of learners who finish a course subscribe, against 10.7% of all signups. Ask at the finish line.

Funnels, free

Your renewals

In this example, 840 subscribers have not completed a lesson in 21 days, 610 of them monthly. Export the group to your email tool and send them their next lesson before the next charge.

Populations, Growth plan

Your YouTube budget

In this example, last touch credits youtube_preroll_bootcamp with 120 subscribers. First touch says 310. Read both before you cut it.

Website live in about 5 minutes. App events take a developer, or Claude Code with our installer skill.

Install with AI, send lessons from your app, connect Stripe, and every subscription lands on a learner with the campaign that first brought them.

Install with AI

Kissmetrics installs with AI in about 5 minutes. Live view shows visits as they arrive, so you see it working.

Start from a ready-made schema

Ready-made schema examples show what to track and how to name it. For a course platform: Signed up, Lesson completed, Course completed, Subscribed, Renewed subscription.

Selling subscriptions? Connect Stripe

Every payment, renewals included, lands on the learner, next to the campaign they clicked first.

What EdTech teams ask before they start.

Straight answers.

Can we track lessons inside our app as well as on the website?

Yes. Send Lesson completed and Course completed from your app or backend, and they land on the same learner as their first visit to your site: website and app as one person.

Will the numbers match Stripe?

Totals can differ, for example when a payment can’t be matched to a person, so check three learners you know. Visitor counts won’t match GA4 either: Kissmetrics counts people.

How do we start, and do we need a developer?

Install with AI in about 5 minutes, pass the email at signup, connect Stripe. Ready-made schema examples show what to track and how to name it. Sending lesson events from your app is a job for whoever looks after it.

What is free?

Tracking, the Funnels and Activity reports, the chat, dashboards and live view, with 100k events a month, 3 seats and no card. The Performance report, Populations, People search, visitors from AI assistants and CSV export are on Growth, from $99 a month. See pricing

Who owns the data?

You do. Export any report and its data on Growth, pull it through the API on any plan, and delete a person on request. Privacy policy
