A New Chapter Begins: Welcoming Sandstorm Analytics to the Kissmetrics Family
We’re thrilled to announce that Kissmetrics Holding Inc. has officially acquired Sandstorm Analytics, a strategic move that unites two missions under one banner: empowering creators and companies with the analytics tools they need to grow. As of today, the Sandstorm platform is fully merged into Kissmetrics, with all operations, services, and technologies now managed under the new entity, Kissmetrics Holding Inc.
This transition marks not just a business acquisition, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter — for us, for the thousands of developers in the Sandstorm community, and for the future of gaming analytics.
A Seamless Transition for Current Customers
Effective March 31st, 2025, the standalone Sandstorm platform will be officially sunset for all new customers. However, if you’re an existing Sandstorm customer, there’s no need to worry — your service will continue without disruption under the new entity Kissmetrics Holding Inc. This transition was designed to ensure continuity, and the majority of Sandstorm accounts will be rebranded under the new team this week. Your account, data, and support will remain active, secure, and fully operational, now under the Kissmetrics platform and backed by the broader Kissmetrics infrastructure.
Our goal is to make this merger feel like an upgrade for our customers. You’ll continue using the tools you know and trust — just with the added support and stability that comes from being part of the Kissmetrics ecosystem.
Welcoming Over 3,000 Developers to the Kissmetrics Family
Since its founding in 2021, Sandstorm has become a foundational force in the web3 developer space. It’s brought together over 3,000 developers, offered tools to accelerate game development, and championed the builders who shape the future of decentralized platforms. What started as a bold vision turned into a vibrant ecosystem that lowered barriers and created opportunities for creators worldwide.
Now, as Sandstorm winds down, those 3,000+ developers won’t be left behind. They’re becoming a core part of the Kissmetrics community. Through this merger, developers will continue their journey, gaining access to a broader suite of analytics tools tailored for gaming, growth, and long-term success.
Kissmetrics Gaming: What’s Next
As we look forward, Kissmetrics Gaming is taking center stage. This product will continue what Sandstorm started — but with the added power and scalability of Kissmetrics analytics.
From user behavior tracking to conversion funnels, retention reports, and real-time engagement metrics, Kissmetrics will offer everything needed to create, launch, and scale gaming projects in this fast-evolving space.
This merger gives us the opportunity to bring clarity and insight to a new generation of developers — helping them understand their players, iterate faster, and grow smarter.
Leadership Changes: Thank You, Steve McGarry — Welcome, Evan
With this transition comes a significant shift in leadership. Steve McGarry, CEO of Sandstorm who helped launch and grow the platform, will be stepping down from his role as CEO of Kissmetrics post-acquisition. Steve has been instrumental in completing this merge over the last 2 years and built a product that has had a real and lasting impact on the developer community. His leadership, creativity, and drive helped bring Sandstorm from an idea into a platform that has touched thousands of lives, even as the platform is being sunset and a new team steps in to carry the vision forward.
As Steve steps down, we’re excited to welcome Evan Sforzo as the CEO of Kissmetrics Holding Inc. Evan brings a deep understanding of data-driven sales, customer-first growth, and the analytics tools businesses need to thrive. He’s worked closely with both Kissmetrics and Sandstorm teams throughout this transition and is well-positioned to lead the next chapter.
Under Evan’s leadership, Kissmetrics will stay true to its roots in product analytics while expanding our reach across the web3 and gaming landscapes. His focus will be on execution, innovation, and — above all — serving our users with excellence.
Why This Matters for the Future of Gaming Analytics
This acquisition isn’t just about platforms and products — it’s about the people building what’s next. Gaming is still in its early innings, and analytics will play a crucial role in shaping how these experiences are built, optimized, and scaled. By combining the proven infrastructure of Kissmetrics with the community and momentum of Sandstorm, we’re creating a platform uniquely positioned to support developers in the decentralized future.
This merger sends a strong message: web3 and gaming analytics are here to stay, and we’re committed to supporting the creators who are making it real.
Whether you’re building a small gaming experience or a community-driven SaaS platform, Kissmetrics will help you understand what’s working, what’s not, and what to do next.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, here’s what you can expect:
- Platform Updates: Improvements to the Kissmetrics dashboard are coming
- Developer Support: A dedicated onboarding path for former Sandstorm developers, along with training materials, community channels, and personalized support.
- Product Roadmap: A public roadmap for Kissmetrics for Gaming — outlining what we’re building, what’s coming soon, and how to get involved.
